A tiny oil-rich monarchy in the Gulf, the only time you might have ever thought about Kuwait was when it was invaded by Iraq in 1999. Even avid travelers to the tiny emirate have never given much thought to the languages of Kuwait!
Despite being a country of less than 4.3 million – roughly the same amount as the US state of Oregon – Kuwait is home to speakers of dozens of languages both large and small.
Some have hundreds of millions of speakers spread across the globe, whilst others have only a few million speakers and are restricted just to the Gulf. Going even further, there are even a few languages spoken solely in Kuwait!
